This is the most valuable explanation I've ever seen of why most people with college degrees are worse than useless. Yet Sunny (Sonny?) Hostin on The View was apoplectic about the new Education Secretary because she is a proponent of a national school choice mandate; and (shock, horror) most states don't REQUIRE a college degree for educators outside the public school system. I would say that is a big PLUS. Oh, and I don't actually watch The View (what do you take me for?) but I saw the clip on Fox News.
In Vegas back in the day when the Feds shut down nuclear weapons testing at the Nevada Test Site there were a bunch of scientists and engineers who were willing to work for the local school district. The district said no, you guys arenāt qualified to teach science because you donāt have an education degree. So the school district sent a team of recruiters to the Philippines each year to recruit third world people with education degrees.

Yep to all of this. My warrior single mother raising two boys in the 70's without 'welfare' said she wished the 19th amendment whould be repealed. She explained what it was to my 6 yr old hyper clump of cells and I was like "um...". Took me a few years to fully understand her.
