Nobody on the world stage takes us seriously because we have clowns running the show. The pain of this era will be intense and long lasting. It us just beginning. Welcome to the Neo-feudal technocratic dark age.

I can't believe how many people are actually scolding or lecturing me lately for saying things like we have moral obligations to defend countries we promised to defend from invasion and conquest and keeping your fucking word is sometimes incompatible with "America minding its own business."

Literally none of the bad-acting states right now are minding their own business. They're aggressively pursuing their own interests using state behavior that the global order decided was a no-no after two world wars.

China has turned half of Africa into Rhodesia again and is claiming sovereign power over half the ocean. Russia is INVADING a sovereign country with whom we have a defense agreement and who is engaged with NATO.

Doesn't playing by the rules include rebuking those who don't? Because if it's okay to invade and annex stuff again now, I just want to know.

For rizzo, this is actually a topic my family discusses quite a lot, and I'd be interested to know how serious the sentiment here is. Are you expressing your real views in a funny voice, or is this all sarcastic modest proposal?

Well it’s laced with hyperbole and invective as always but I absolutely think part of our goal in Afghanistan should have been to exploit natural resources and profit as much as possible.

Aside from helping us, establishing industrial production would also obviously help Afghanis a lot more than the 20 years of free bread and then wheels up.

Plus I'm sure women and girls really enjoyed not being farm animals under the law for 20 years.

Ah, kids are resilient.

In Star Trek, I bet the mirror universe version of America is exactly as you describe, except with a lot more goatees because apparently that's a thing.
